CRIOLLO GELDING IMPORTED BY SHIP FROM ARGENTINA. HE ARRIVED UNSHOD AFTER SPENDING NEARLY 3 MONTHS TRAVELLING ON A SPIKED METAL ANTI SLIP FLOOR. IT IS CLEAR FROM THE AREAS OF BRUISING, GROWTH RINGS AND INDENTS THAT THIS HORSE HAD SUFFERED SEVERAL METABOLIC EPISODES DURING THIS TIME EXACERBATED BY THIS VERY STRESSFUL EXPERIEINCE.
ON HIS ARRIVAL HE WAS DEPRESSED, AFRAID AND CLOSED DOWN. HE WAS NERVOUS WHEN HELD OR TRIMMED AND FOUND IT VERY UNCOMFORTABLE TO ELEVATE BOTH HINDS AND HAD SIGNIFICANT BACK PAIN.
HE HAD ROPE SCARS AROUND EACH PASTERN AND A DENT ON HIS FOREHEAD.
HE HAD ONLY BEEN SHOD ON HIS FRONTS FOR A FEW MONTHS AND ONCE SHOES HAD BEEN REMOVED AND BALANCE HAD BEEN ADDRESSED HOOF STRUCTURES DISPLAYED STRONG FOUNDATIONS

You can also see how back pain is affecting posture and influences soft tissue - cartilage/ligament/tendon and connective tissue shape and form and their relationship to the coronary band. It also illustrates how this stimulates hoof growth and shape.
Being able to elevate the hinds for any length of time was very difficult for this horse.
